This article aims to explore the impact that the nomination of sites to be included to the UNESCO World Heritage list has in a country. According to Su and Lin (2014) we work with a panel of data with 32 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, whereas as dependent variable and proxy of tourist demand we consider the arrival of international tourists to these countries and we incorporate within the usual explanatory variables of tourist demand the amount of UNESCO sites (both material and intangible) for the period 1995-2016. Countries are grouped according to their level of income following the classification of the World Bank to verify if there are significant differences according to this classification. The impact that has on the arrival of tourists the inclusion of a new site is also estimated.
