Transformaciones del espacio litoral de Puerto Madryn: desde fines del siglo XIX a la actualidad

Abstract

Puerto Madryn es un destino turístico ubicado en la Patagonia argentina que se ha desarrollado gracias a las ventajas comparativas que presenta. Por un lado, es un puerto natural de aguas profundas que permite la operación de buques de gran calado durante todo el año y por otro, la gran biodiversidad que dio lugar al desarrollo turístico en la región. Desde fines del Siglo XIX y hasta la actualidad ha sufrido transformaciones en su espacio litoral y, en consecuencia, se generaron impactos. En el presente trabajo de investigación se describe la funcionalización y valorización del espacio litoral a partir de cuatro etapas, se identifican usos, actividades y elementos patrimoniales, y se clasifica a los actores sociales intervinientes. Este análisis retrospectivo considera todo el sistema litoral para alcanzar una mejor comprensión de las problemáticas y proponer estrategias de gestión que respondan a un modelo de desarrollo sostenible.

Puerto Madryn is a tourist destination situated in the argentinian Patagonia that has developed based on his comparative advantages. On the one hand, it is a natural deepwater port that allows the operation of deep-draft vessels throughout the year and, on the other, the great biodiversity that gave rise to tourism development in the region. Since the end of the 19th century and up to the present, it has undergone transformations in its coastal space and, consequently, impacts. This research describes the functionalization and valorization of the coastal area in four stages, including its uses and activities, his heritage and classifies the involved social actors. This retrospective analysis considers the entire coastal system to achieve a better understanding of the problems and propose management strategies that align with a sustainable development model.
