El "Essai" de Cantillon

Abstract

Cada época tiene sus ideas fuerza, que responden a las preocupaciones del momento. A comienzos del siglo XVIII, un banquero de cuna irlandesa, y actuación centralmente en Francia, escribió influenciado por un leit-motiv que comenzaba a despuntar reflejando el espíritu de su época: la comprensión global del sistema económico. Por eso creemos importante recordar a este lejano pionero a los 250 años de la publicación de su única obra, que quizás merezca ser considerada como el verdadero punto inicial del pensamiento sistemático en nuestra disciplina: el “Ensayo sobre la naturaleza del comercio en general”, de Richard Cantillon.

Each period has their own ideas-forces, in response to the dominant preoccupations of the moment. This paper will explore how the writings of a banker of Irish cradle, who acted centrally in France at the beginning of the 18th century, was influenced by the events of his time. He wrote influenced by a leit-motiv that began to arise, reflecting the spirit of its time: the vision of the economic system as a global system. The paper discuss the work of this distant Irish pioneer from our particular point of view. This banker is Richard Cantillon; and this year we all celebrate the 250 years of the publication of its only work, the well-known "Essai sur la nature du commerce en genéral" (“Essay on the nature of the commerce”), which can be considered like the true initial point of the systematic thought in our discipline.
