Abstract

El surgimiento de nuevos enfoques sobre la historia del diseño en los últimos veinte años requiere repensar aspectos de su enseñanza, algunos de los cuales implican reflexiones historiográficas. Para tal fin, se exploran los criterios para la periodización histórica y para la jerarquización de los temas considerados relevantes para el estudio de la materia, así como la bibliografía más difundida, en la que podemos detectar posturas que han dado formato a los abordajes más frecuentes de la historia del diseño, y publicaciones más recientes que abren nuevas perspectivas de estudio. A partir de esta exploración, se concluye con un análisis de los aspectos que jerarquizan la función que desempeñan las materias histórico-sociales en la formación profesional de los diseñadores.

The emergence of new approaches to the history of design in the last twenty years requires rethinking aspects of its teaching, some of which involve historiographical reflections. For this purpose, the criteria for historical periodization and the hierarchy of the topics considered relevant for the study of the subject are explored, as well as the most widespread bibliography, in which we can detect positions that have formatted the most frequent approaches of the history of design, and more recent publications that open new perspectives of study. Through this exploration the article concludes with an analysis of the aspects that hierarchize the role played by historical-social matters in the professional training of designers.
