Sobre el documental participativo

Abstract

El presente trabajo ofrece un comienzo de reconstrucción histórica de la presencia del documental participativo, en su cruce con la realización, la educación y la antropología visual, dentro del campo de nuestra carrera de Artes Audiovisuales, Facultad de Bellas Artes, Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP), desde su reapertura en 1993. Definimos documental participativo (Guardia, 2011; Sandoval Riviera, 2015) o interactivo (Nichols, 1997), a dichos proyectos en los que la interacción entre el equipo de filmación y lxs actores sociales filmadxs implica una toma de decisiones conjunta. Es decir, que las decisiones de qué se filma, cómo y por qué, son abordadas de modo colectivo. Por lo tanto, la película como el proceso de su realización se vuelven centrales. En nuestro espacio académico, esta modalidad ha tenido un desarrollo interesante: desde una cátedra específica hasta una condición transversal.

The present work offers a beginning of historical reconstruction of the presence of the participatory documentary, in its crossing with the realization and education, within the field of our Audiovisual Arts career, Faculty of Fine Arts, National University of La Plata (UNLP), from it’s reopening in 1993. We define participatory (Guardia, 2011; Sandoval Riviera, 2015) or interactive documentary (Nichols, 1997), those projects in which the interaction between the film crew and the social actors filmed implies joint decision making. That is to say, that the decisions of what is filmed, how and why are tacked by all together. Therefore, both the film and the process of its realization, become central. In our academic space, this modality has had an interesting development: from a specific cathedra, to a transversal condition.
